Our Story
Founded in 2010 with its headquarters in Ernakulam, the Medical Laboratory Owners Association (MLOA) has grown into a vibrant organization with strong roots across all 14 districts of Kerala. Over the past 13 years, many major changes in the laboratory sector have been achieved through the association’s initiatives.
The organization has also led several agitations, including marches to DMO offices and a secretariat protest, demanding representation in the Clinical Establishment Council. Additionally, MLOA organized district-level awareness classes and set up registration counters to support members with Clinical Establishment Act registration.
By conducting CME programs and workshops across districts, MLOA has ensured continued education for its members. It has also held leadership camps to cultivate new leaders and successfully organized conventions and conferences in all 14 districts.
The association has been actively involved in various government-level discussions, including:
• Meetings convened by the Minister for Local Self-Government regarding the Sanitation Mission
• Discussions on the Public Health Bill with the Health Department
• Meetings with the Labour Department and the Welfare Fund Board
In the early years, the Pollution License fee, which used to cost ₹10,000 annually, was successfully reduced to ₹1,000 and later revised to a one-time fee of ₹5,000, thanks to the efforts of the association.
MLOA is also the first organization to implement an External Quality System in collaboration with CMC Vellore, with the vision of bringing member laboratories up to international standards.

In partnership with the Kerala Paramedical Coordination Committee, MLOA has participated in several initiatives, including the state-level convention held in Kozhikode, which saw the participation of thousands of members from across Kerala.
Today, the state and district leadership of MLOA continue to work tirelessly, offering guidance and support to member laboratories. Updates on activities and new initiatives can be followed through the official MLOA Facebook page.
